(Updated 5:33pm 25th January 2018)

Today is Young Carers Awareness Day.

There are now nearly 10,000 young carers under the age of eight in England and Wales who perform unpaid caring duties.

For years, Action for Children across Harrogate and Craven have provided direct assistance to children and teens who look after a friend or family member.

Chloe Loxton works for Action for Children across Harrogate and Craven.

She is joined by Lily and Lewis, who are both local young carers.

Action for Children help children and teens across the UK.

They raise awareness, identify and provide direct support to children and young people who look after or help to look after someone in their family who is unwell or disabled, including children caring for parents who have mental health or substance misuse problems.
