(Updated 8:18am 1st February 2018)

The A1(M) was closed this morning due to a recovery taking place for a broken down abnormal load at Leeming Bar.

The road was closed both ways between J51-J50 overnight.

Photos from the scene show the 120 tonne crane, which has been constructed to transport the load to a new vehicle.

Highways England have announced that both carriageways have been reopened.

They have thanked the public for their 'understanding and patience'.
