Knaresborough care home opens doors to elderly

Thistle Hill Care Centre in Knaresborough

1:01am 4th February 2018

Thistle Hill Care Home in Knaresborough has opened its doors to members of its local community to help tackle loneliness.

An initiative that began around Christmas, the Barchester Healthcare run home has extended the invitation for elderly people who would usually dine alone, to join them for a Sunday meal - free of charge.

Diners will be treated to a tasty dinner with Sunday roast favourites in the home's dining room.

Guests will have a chance to chat to the home's staff and residents and enjoy light entertainment with their food. The home will also have a selection of music and games available on the day.

Thistle Hill's Head Chef will be producing a range of dishes to cover varied individual dietary needs and preferences, so diners will be able to eat to their fill with Sunday Dinner favourites and a selection of drinks and refreshments.

The 'Don't Dine Alone' initiative was launched by care provider Barchester Healthcare as a way to reach out to isolated or vulnerable members of their local communities.

Contact Thistle Hill on 01423869200 for more information.
