Overturned milk tanker on B6451 near Farnley

Emergency services have been called to an incident involving an overturned milk tanker on the B6451 between Farnley and Norwood. 

It happened just before 1pm on Wednesday 7 February, 2018. 

The road is currently closed. 

North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene. 

Crews are reportedly dealing with milk that has leaked onto the road. 

The fire service is containing the milk in a portable dam.

Overturned milk tanker on B6451 near Farnley

Sgt Paul Cording has tweeted to say the road is likely to remain closed for some time whilst recovery takes place. 

He is also urging for people to use alternative routes on the school run and/or on their commute home.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance were also in attendance. 

The 32-year-old male driver of the milk tanker was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with reported head injuries by road ambulance. 

UPDATE: 

The milk tanker has been righted but the B6451 will remain closed whilst full recovery takes place.
