Households urged to check fuel levels as freeze sets in

Delivery drivers continuing to battle ice and snow to get fuel to rural households in North Yorkshire.

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 1:24pm 2nd March 2018.

People in North Yorkshire who rely on oil to fuel their homes are being urged to monitor levels in the ongoing cold weather.

It's amid fears some residents are running out, following days of sub-zero temperatures.

Fuel-consumption this winter is said to be up on the previous 5-6 years.

Janet Kettlewell, Operations Manager at Kettlewell Fuels based near Ripon, told Stray FM:

"We are encouraging people to check the levels of fuel in their tanks regularly, because you will be using more oil currently than you have used in the past.

"Our expert drivers do know North Yorkshire, they understand the terrain and they're adapting to these very difficult circumstances.

"We are delivering and prioritising where we can and doing everything we can to meet our customers' needs."
