Two teenagers dead after crash near Thirsk

Two teenagers have died and two children are among seven injured after a three-car crash in North Yorkshire.

The boys, believed to be 17, died at the scene on the A61 between Busby Stoop and Carlton Miniott near Thirsk last night.

It happened at around 9.25pm on Wednesday 7th March and involved three vehicles – a black Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a green Volkswagen Bora that were believed to be travelling from Thirsk to Busby Stoop.

A further five people and two children have been taken to hospital.

Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation.

In particular, anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling in the area at the time with dashboard cameras in operation prior to the collision is urged to contact them.

The stretch of road has since reopened.

Police said they are not in a position to name the deceased at this stage.
