Flood alert for the River Nidd near Tockwith

Flood warning alert

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Lower River Nidd, near Tockwith, after Monday's heavy rainfall.

River levels at Skip Bridge peaked at just over 4 metres overnight, well above the 3 metre level where minor flooding is considered a risk.

Communities and businesses in the area are advised to be prepared and not to put themselves at risk.

River levels have started to fall slightly this morning, with the weather forecast predicting a largely dry day.

The latest alert follows yesterday's attempts to prevent flood water entering properties in Pannal.
