Dates unveiled for cycling's World Championships

cycling's world championships comes to Yorkshire

1:41pm 13th March 2018

Last year, Harrogate was unveiled as the main competition town and finish location for the 2019 UCI Road World Championships.

Dates have now been confirmed for the 2019 event.

The competition is set to start on 22nd September and finish on 29th September, 2019.

The UCI Road World Championships includes a wide range of men’s, women’s and junior races, which take place over nine days. Harrogate will host two circuit races whilst other races will start in various locations across the county.

The routes will be announced at the end of 2018's World Championships.

Organisers say the event in September 2019 will mean cycling on a scale never seen before will head to Yorkshire. They're looking forward to showcasing Yorkshire's beauty to the world.

Over 6000 people will visit the county to participate in the event. There'll be approximately 1200 cyclists competing.

Yorkshire won the right to host the event after a joint bid between Welcome to Yorkshire, British Cycling and UK Sport and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
