Ripon's Jack Laugher takes 2nd Commonwealth gold

Ripon's Jack Laugher takes 2nd Commonwealth gold

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 10:19am 12th April 2018. (Updated at 11:27am 12th April 2018)

Ripon diver Jack Laugher will go for gold at the Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast.

He's appearing in the men's 3-metre springboard final this morning, fresh from defending his 1-metre springboard title yesterday.

Jack is the favourite going into today's final.

We'll keep you updated on how he gets on.

11:24am

It's safe to say, Jack dominated that final.

He's successfully upgraded his silver from four years ago with a score of 519.40 and now has two golds from this Commonwealth Games.

Well done!

11:20am

Absolutely fantastic! It's gold again!

Jack Laugher, take a bow...

11:10am

Jack Laugher is on fire in this 3m final.

Two near-perfect dives and he's just one dive away from taking gold.

10:50am

So far, so good at the halfway stage...

10:45am

After 2 of 6 dives, Jack is right where he wants to be.

He's lying in 1st position, ahead of the Australian James Connor.

10:25am

Despite being favourite, Jack only finished 5th in qualify for today's final.

Part of the reason was due to this failed dive, which has quickly been picked up on social media.

We're told conditions were very different in qualifying and the dive shouldn't have too much impact on the final.

10:21am

Can he make it 2 from 2?

The men's 3-metre springboard final is underway this morning in Australia.

Here's a reminder of how Ripon's Jack Laugher defended his title yesterday:
