Keep your dogs close, Harrogate Police warn

unknown white substance found on Luchon Way Harrogate

Police warn dog owners after unknown powdered substance is found in the park on Luchon Way in Harrogate.

Harrogate Police are warning the public to keep their dogs close to them today.

It's after an 'unidentified white powder' was found in the park on Luchon Way.

There's been numerous reports of dogs being poisoned due to droppings of poisonous substances in parks across the Harrogate and Craven Districts.

Harrogate Police have contacted the council to help clear the substance.

There are reports that the powder is flour due to the trail commonly left by a local running club.

However, this hasn't been confirmed.

UPDATE

Harrogate Police have announced that they are aware of the runners that use a flour trail but are still urging people to be cautious.

They say the positioning of some of the marks didn't appear to be where they would expect if coming from a running club trail.

It's better to be safe than sorry.
