Police to clampdown on illegal parking on road into Skipton

Gargrave road: drivers warned over parking on Gargrave Road

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 7:19am 17th April 2018. (Updated at 9:26am 17th April 2018)

Are you one of the motorists regularly parking on Skipton's Gargrave Road?

Police have taken to social media to warn you could face a £100 fine and 3 points on your licence.

In a post yesterday, @Skipton_Police described how vehicles are being left opposite the road's double white line system, an offence under rule 240 of the Road Traffic Act.

Traffic police will be enforcing the restrictions.

Skipton Police posted: "Too many ignoring the signs...either totally unaware or blatantly disregarding the rules".

A double white line system, as seen in the picture, can also include broken lines in either direction.

Skipton PCSO Emily Crossley said: "I am meeting with highways about the issues also tomorrow. Who are also aware of the problem!"
