Betty's Tea Rooms to give out new 10p piece

The Royal Mint has partnered with Harrogate-based Betty's Tea Rooms with the launch of a new 10 pence piece.

Created as part of The Great British Coin Hunt, the 'teapot' coin celebrates the nation's love of tea.

With National Tea Day taking place on the 21st April, a limited number of the coins, depicting a steaming pot of tea, will be placed in tills in Betty's Tea Rooms in Harrogate, York, Harlow Carr, Stonegate, Northallerton and Ilkley.

The Royal Mint are collaborating with Betty’s Tea Rooms to celebrate National Tea Day which is happening this weekend eith a new coin

They'll be available at the sites this weekend.

Una Heron, Bettys Head of Catering & Retail said:

"We're really excited to be teaming up with The Royal Mint on this very special coin hunt.

"The new 10p coins are beautiful and, of course, we particularly like the T coin.

"What could be more quintessentially British than tea at Bettys?

"We hope coin hunters will drop in to enjoy a cup of one of the world's most popular drinks in one of our six iconic café tea rooms in Yorkshire." 

Additional coins launched as part of The Great British Coin Hunt include fish and chips, cricket, and the Loch Ness monster. The 26 coins map out the A-Z of what makes Britain great - from the Angel of the North to a Zebra Crossing.
