WATCH - Local Radio Day appeal: it's what we do

Local radio day appeal

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 10:46am 25th May 2018.

Stray FM is celebrating proper local radio, on Local Radio Day.

More than a hundred other stations across the country are joining in to highlight the difference services, like this one, can make to the communities we serve.

One way we like to give back here in Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale is by supporting events that need a helping hand spreading the word.

This morning, we spoke to Jane Clarke, the registered manager of Nidderdale' children's resource centre, which look after young people with complex health needs, autism, disabilities and provides short breaks away.

On July 14th they're planning to host a festival at Ripon Rugby Club. Jane told us:

"We wanted to give the children and families the opportunity to go to a festival which was accessible.

"Something where you wouldn't have to worry about chaging facilities, or not being able to get about."

They're desparately looking for help from local businesses, who may be able to donate items like a marquee to cover the stage, entertainment or even straw bales.

Jane spoke to Pete Egerton this morning...
