Multi-million pound scheme to improve A658

A658 - Road works on Pool Bank

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 5:04pm 28th June 2018.

Transport bosses have agreed to multi-million pound road works which they hope will improve access to Leeds Bradford Airport.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority have agreed to part-fund a project to rebuild the Harrogate Road new line junction on the A658 to help reduce congestion.

It is hoped the works will also make roads safer for cyclists and pedestrians, while helping support new housing developments.

A report which went before authority members added:

“The scheme will improve access to Leeds Bradford Airport and the new rail station at Apperley Bridge with its interchange capabilities encouraging model shift.”

The expected £8.6m cost of the works will be funded with a £6.7m grant from the West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund, with the remaining cost expected to be paid for by Bradford Council.
