Race directors visit Harrogate ahead of full Tour de Yorkshire announcement

Published by Lisa Darvill at 4:09pm 6th December 2018.

Tour de Yorkshire organisers have been on a mini tour of of the county ahead of the full 2019 Tour de Yorkshire route announcement tomorrow.

  • Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity DL and Tour de France Director Christian Prudhomme have spent today touring Yorkshire
  • After stops to West Yorkshire, they headed to Brackenfield School in Harrogate
  • The tour will come right past the school’s gates as the riders take on the Harrogate Circuit- which will used extensively in the Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships next September
  • The final stop on the tour was at RHS Harlow Carr

Sir Gary Verity DL, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said:

“It’s been great meeting people in two of the host towns of the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire and building excitement ahead of the full route announcement. We get so much support from our local communities during the race that we wanted to come and thank them in person. It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with cycling, the true legacy of both the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire. The Christmas performance was magical and the light switch on the icing on the (Christmas) cake.”

The full route of the Tour de Yorkshire will be unveiled tomorrow in Leeds.

We already know no towns in Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale will host a start or finish.
