RECAP: What happened in 2018 across the UK?

Published by Ellie Harries at 9:24pm 24th December 2018.

2018 - what a year!

As December comes to a close, can you remember everything that's happened across the last 12 months?

Let's have a recap...

Yes, it's dominated the news this year and we've all got our opinions on it...

At the moment we're waiting for a deal to be finalised and parliament to stop arguing about what the best way forward should be.

The snow at the beginning of March took its toll on the whole country.

It halted drivers, closed schools and businesses and gave us all some incredible memories.

Who can forget how glorious the white stuff looked?

On March 4th, former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with novichok in Salisbury.

It became an international incident with countries across the world blaming Russia for the ruthless attack, which led to five people being hospitalised and one dying.

In September, two suspects were identified - Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov.

The pair did reconnaissance in the city before targeting Sergei Skripal's home in the city.

They told press that they had only visited Salisbury, twice, to see the worlds oldest clock and the famous 123m spire...

The case is still ongoing with neither suspect arrested yet.

The reality programme seemed to grip the nation this year.

10 unknown singles entered a villa in Mallorca to find 'love' (and fame).

We were all hooked for two months, waiting to see who would find love and lust and eventually Dani and Jack were announced the winners.

Oh and who can forget this TV GOLD moment...

England, England, ENGLAAAAAND!

Who didn't fall in love with Gareth Southgate and his young side during the World Cup this year?

The country celebrated every goal, every final whistle and every stage (with a pint).

The boys did us proud and fully made us think football was coming home.

The weather this year was unlike any other we've experience before.

Sunshine for days, 30 degree heat and a summer unlike any other.

Thousands flocked to the beaches, play parks and pubs whenever they could - workers flung open their windows and the air con was cranked up.

It was glorious!

We don't need to say anything about this one - just watch:

The man, the legend - who didn't fall in love with him on this years I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here?

He entertained us with his betting, his tales of how he fell in love with Sand and his relationship with Noel Edmunds.

Harry, we salute you.

What a way to ruin Christmas...

Over 140,000 people were left stranded because a little drone flew over the airspace at Gatwick Airport.

2018 - it's (sort of!) been a pleasure, over and out!
