North Yorkshire Police say an 8-year-old girl will receive support after an incident involving a knife at a primary school in the Harrogate District

Police were called to a school in the Harrogate District on the 18th February after a pupil produced a kitchen knife in class.

During the incident the 8 year old girl made threats to the attending officers and teaching staff.

A PCSO, Matt Murphy, posted on Twitter that she had said she would stab him in the heart.

The class was evacuated.

No-one was injured and the knife was recovered.

The girl will receive support following the incident.

Earlier today it was revealed that six in ten North Yorkshire retailers "sold a knife" to an underage Trading Standards volunteer.
