Yellow weather warning issued - flood risk

A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy, persistent rain across Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale.

  • A yellow weather warning for heavy persistent rain has been issued from midnight tonight (15 March), until midnight tomorrow (16 March)
  • Bus and train services will "probably" be affected
  • Watch out for flooding on the roads 

The warning is in place from midnight tonight (Friday 15 March), until midnight tomorrow (Saturday 16 March).

You're being told to expect:

  • Spray and flooding on roads - probably making journey times longer
  • Bus and train services will probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Possible flooding of a few homes and businesses

A yellow warning of wind remains in place until 3pm today.

The A1(M) remains closed between J50 and J51 northbound after fence panels blew onto the road.

The stretch has been closed while the panels are safely removed and repairs to the fencing are carried out.

Earlier this week, Storm Gareth caused disruption across Harrogate, Craven and WharfedaleHeslaker Lane was impassible due to flooding.

Waitrose carpark in Harrogate was shut on Tuesday due to a risk of slates falling off the roof in high winds, and a man in Ripon was rescued after his car got stuck in a ford on the same day.
