Attempted bus stop mugging in broad daylight

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about a attempted theft that occurred on Otley Road, Harrogate.

  • Police are appealing for information after an attempted mugging at a bus stop in Harrogate
  • It happened on Wed 13 March at around 10.25am on Otley Road, opposite the junction with Beckwith Road
  • A man tried to take a woman's handbag - he is described as Asian, in his late 30's/early 40's, and was wearing a bright yellow puffer jacket

It happened at a bus stop on Otley Road opposite the junction with Beckwith Road at approximately 10.25am on Wednesday 13 March and involved a man attempting to take a woman’s handbag.

The man was unsuccessful and the woman was able to keep hold of the bag.

He then continued along Otley Road towards Harrogate.

Officers are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, the force is appealing for information about the man who is described as Asian in appearance, aged between his late 30’s to early 40’s and was wearing a woolly hat and bright yellow puffer jacket.

The man was also described to be wearing black trousers and black shoes.
