Improved bus services to the Dales

Improved bus services to the Dales

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 6:34am 15th April 2019.

A Yorkshire bus company has announced a number of improved services to the Dales.

  • There will be a new 825 service from Harrogate via Ripley to Brimham Rocks, Kirkby Malzeard, Hackfall and the village of Masham.
  • An improved 821 service from Keighley and Otley to Pateley Bridge.
  • The aim is to attract more people to the Dales from congested towns and cities.

From this weekend DalesBus will be running a new service from Harrogate connecting Masham and Brimham Rocks.

There will also be an improved service from Otley to Upper Nidderdale.

Highlights for summer 2019 include:

A double deck sightseeing bus 822 from Ripon and Pateley Bridge (with connections on service 24 from Harrogate, Hampsthwaite and Darley) to Grassington and Kettlewell in Upper Wharfedale, crossing the Kidstone Pass to Aysgarth Falls and Hawes.

An improved 821 service from Keighley and Otley to Pateley Bridge continuing to Lofthouse and Scar House in Upper Nidderdale giving opportunity for those without cars to reach the footpaths and public access land of the popular Reservoir Country of Upper Nidderdale and the Washburn Valley.

A new 825 service from Harrogate via Ripley to Brimham Rocks, Kirkby Malzeard, Hackfall and the village of Masham.

Paul Harrison, Chairman of the Friends of DalesBus said:

"DalesBus in 2019 is enabling people living in many congested towns and cities of Northern England to enjoy exactly what Parliament intended - weekend access opportunities to the wonderful countryside and open spaces of the Yorkshire Dales for walking and sightseeing".

Chris Nash, Chairman of the Dales & Bowland CIC that manages the DalesBus network added:

"There are compelling social, environmental and economic reasons why good public access at affordable fares is needed to reach our National Parks.

"The network which we have been able to provide, thanks to vital support from many different individuals and organisations, gives superb access to some of the finest countryside in England."
