The mum of Leah Heyes - the teenager found collapsed in a Northallerton car park on Saturday who later died in hospital - has paid tribute to her daughter.

Kerry Roberts has told Stray FM:

Leah was my best friend. She was a thoughtful, beautiful girl, who was much loved. She was fun, bubbly, and had a great sense of humour.

“I'm absolutely heartbroken to have lost my beautiful girl. No words can describe how much she will be missed and the enormous gap she has left in our lives.

“She will be truly missed more than words can say. I love you always.”

15-year-old Leah Heyes died on the night of Saturday 11 May 2019 after becoming ill.

Although the exact cause of her death is to be determined, she became ill after taking what officers believe to be MDMA, also known as ecstasy or a “bomb”.

Enquiries into Leah's death continue.
