A local networking group has raised over £1,350 for Saint Michael’s Hospice.

Harrogate-based Square Peg Network - in partnership with the local charity - raised the funds at their inaugural business luncheon on Friday, 10 May.

Hosted at Hotel du Vin on Prospect Place, the event gave local business owners and representatives a unique networking opportunity.

During the event, guests were given a fascinating insight into UK finance by a leading figure from the Bank of England.

Will Holman, deputy agent for Yorkshire and the Humber, presented on the state of the UK economy, together with a few insights into the Bank of England’s future projections.

Guests comprised existing members of the networking group, together with a broad mix of entrepreneurs and businesspeople from across the region.

Russ Hirst from Square Peg presented a cheque in the sum of £1,376, to Vicky Findlow from Saint Michael’s Hospice - Square Peg’s chosen charity partner.

Mr Hirst commented:

"As relatively new kids on the block in the world of business networking, we are delighted to have been able to organise a successful business event whilst also raising funds for a fantastic local cause."

John Husband, one of the group’s co-founders said:

"This was a great networking opportunity, organised with the intention of supporting local business. We are delighted with Square Peg’s association with St Michael’s Hospice."

Ms Findlow, said:

"Thank You to all the Square Peg Members and guests that attended our very first Business Lunch, which helped us to raise around £1,400."

Square Peg Network intend to hold further events in the future. Anybody who is interested in learning more about the group, should email or visit the website.
