Paul Barker, who coaches the Harrogate and Craven schools teams, has already collected over 150 pairs, and sent them to Namuntumba Orphanage in Uganda.

It is home to over 400 children.

Paul said:

"These kids are not just poor, they have nothing. They've got nothing to wear on their feet - a lot of them have nothing to wear".

Paul started collecting boots in Harrogate after finding out on Twitter that a fellow football coach sent his team's kits to the orphanage at the end of each season.

Initially, he sent his son's old boots, but donations flooded in after he put his own appeal on Twitter.

Now, he's keen to collect more because there still aren't enough pairs for each child.

He said:

"The boots we've already sent were only allowed to be worn by the kids for seven minutes each because so many of them wanted to play - they had to keep passing them on.

"If we can make sure every child has a pair of boots, I'd be really chuffed."

Paul collects all the donations himself and stores them in his garage sending them out to the orphanage.

Lizzy McEllan from Stray FM's Family Show talked to Paul about the project:

All the items are sent to Africa by a courier company that has agreed to deliver donations for free.
