M62 to close for a full weekend, westbound near Leeds

  • M62 westbound is closing this weekend.
  • Highways England will be carrying out essential repair work.
  • It'll affect junctions 29 and 28 near Leeds, westbound.
  • The closure is in place from 8pm on Friday (14 June) to 5am on Monday (17 June).

Now it maybe slightly out of our area, however many people could be planning on using the M62 this weekend.

If so, you will need to reconsider your journey as the M62 near Leeds is closing for the ENTIRE weekend.

From 8pm on Friday (14 June) to 5am on Monday (17 June), the westbound carriageway between junctions 29 and 28 near Leeds will shut.

Highways England says essential repair work will be carried out which will improve safety for the thousands of drivers who use the trans-Pennine route every day.

The motorway will be fully closed westbound throughout the work, and drivers should expect delays of at least 30 minutes.

To minimise the impact of the closure on drivers in the region, the work has been scheduled to take place during the summer when traffic flows are lower and when there are no major events taking place in the city.
