A large fire has broken out on Station Parade in Harrogate. The road is closed.

'Avoid the town centre'

North Yorkshire County Council is urging people to avoid traveling into the town centre following the blaze.


Station Parade closure UPDATE:

Harrogate Borough Council has told us that Station Parade will remain closed into the rush hour and into this evening - the road scheduled to reopen around 8pm.



School buses

School buses are running as normal this afternoon but will be delayed. Advice is to keep waiting. If you have children using these services you might want to let them know!

The latest on the scene from the Group Manager of North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue on the latest in Harrogate around Station Parade and Beulah Street following this morning's fire.


Fire service update:

Firefighters have appeared to stop the spread of the blaze to neighbouring properties.


Police update:

Acting Inspector Paul Cording says there aren't believed to be any injuries or casualties.

He's described the incident as likely to be 'long and protracted', as the fire service are concerned the blaze could spread to other shop units.

You're advised to avoid driving into Harrogate town centre.

What's affected?

Bus services are being affected at the station - currently, no buses are running.


Where is the fire?

Firefighters are focusing their efforts on the Station Parade side of the building in Harrogate, but the entrance to the retail unit is on Beulah Street.

The unit is believed to be a new cafe "Deli Blanca" that was preparing to open.
