Sunday's Ripon Christmas Market cancelled due to high winds

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 10:20am 8th December 2019.

The organisers of Ripon Christmas Market have taken the decision to cancel the event today.

  • It's due to the forecast for high winds.
  • Organisers say 'safety for traders and customers is paramount'.
  • Knaresborough's Christmas Market is still on, so is Skipton's but with a reduced number of stalls.

Windy weather has forced the cancellation of the second day of Ripon's Christmas Market, which was due to take place today (Sunday).

Organisers say it's for the safety of traders and customers, with high winds forecast.

They're encouraging people who'd planned to go to still visit the city of Ripon, with lots of shops, cafes, pubs and tourist attractions open.

There's a number of other Christmas markets taking place today across Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale.

The one in Knaresborough is still going ahead, as is the Wetherby Dickensian Market.

Skipton's Christmas Market is still on too, although there will be a reduced number of stalls.
