UPDATE - 'several' people taken to hospital after A59 crash

Police release details on the A59 car crash

Police say 'several people' have been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision on the A59.

Two cars and an HGV were involved in a collision at about 5.30am, and the road remains closed in both directions for several hours.

It re-opened shortly after 10am Monday.

The crash happened on a stretch between Upper Poppleton and Hessay - north of York.

North Yorkshire Police the collision involved a Nissan Micra, a BMW and an HGV.

They said 'several' people had been taken to hospital, but they were unable to confirm the exact number.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Shortly after 8am, Station Manager Tony Walker from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service tweeted an update:

 

 

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Dial 101, press 1 and pass information to the force control room quoting reference number 0035 of 9 December."
