Funding Available For Dales Projects

£65,000 is available for local projects in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

  • A variety of projects have been granted funding in the past.
  • The National Part Authority would like all funds to be allocated by the end of February.
  • The scheme is designed to support projects which improve the environment or make it more enjoyable for visitors.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority have £65,000 of funding available for projects which help businesses and the local community.

The Sustainable Development Fund also supports projects which either improve the environment of the National Park, or provide opportunities for people to enjoy it.

Previous projects to be supported include printing walking guidebooks, refurbishing public toilets, and natural flood management systems.

Thornton Community Projects received a grant of £1,345 to help pay for a natural flood management system and biodiversity improvements in Cowgill Wood. The National Park Authority say the system of ‘leaky dams’ should help should reduce the risk of flood water reaching homes in the village. 

 

The Sustainable Development Fund is currently open for applications.

Sustainable Development Fund Officer Andrea Burden said:

"Ideally we like to allocate out annual SDF budget by the end of February each year.
