7-year-old Skipton crash victim says thanks to firefighters

Skipton and Grassington firefighters get a surprise visit

  • A schoolgirl caught up in a crash near Skipton at the weekend has paid a visit to the firefighters who attended the scene.
  • Josie was cut free from a car involved in a collision at Cononley on Saturday evening (25 January).
  • The 7-year-old, who was travelling with her grandparents at the time, took 'thank you' chocolates to crews in Skipton and Grassington.

A schoolgirl has surprised Skipton and Grassington firefighters who helped cut her free from a car that was involved in a crash at the weekend.

Josie was a passenger in a BMW which collided with a vehicle on the A629 at Cononley on Saturday evening.

She was travelling with her grandparents at the time, who suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The 7-year-old wanted to say thank you to the crews who cut them free:

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash between a VW Polo and the BMW which took place at around 8pm on the A629 at Cononley. 

A 19-year-old man, who was a passenger in the VW, died at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle is in a serious condition in hospital.
