A1M Northbound reopens at Ripon after portacabin falls off HGV

The road was closed between junctions 49 and 50 for a number of hours this morning, but has now re-opened.

Storm Ciara is continuing to causing more travel disruption across Harrogate, Craven and Wharefedale this morning.

The A1M Northbound near Ripon was completely closed for a number of hours this morning, after a portacabin fell off the back of a HGV, between junctions 49 and 50.

Strong winds hampered the recovery of the vehicle, and Highways England had expected to road to be shut for longer, but it is now open again.

Meanwhile, a number of roads and bridges remain closed following yesterday's flooding.

Standing water on some roads from last night's rain is making driving conditions difficult.

There's also been some cancellations on the trains this morning.
