People in Ilkley and Keighley affected by flooding from storms Ciara and Dennis will be able to get help from Bradford  Council - thanks to new Government funding.

  • People affected by flooding in Keighley and Ilkley will be able to get help from Bradford Council.
  • New government funding means households can get cash, reductions in council tax and protection from future floods.
  • There is also help available for businesses that were flooded.

The funding will be made available to households where floodwater entered habitable areas of the property.

This support includes £500 to help meet immediate costs, a reduction in council tax and up to £5,000 to put measures in place to help protect against future floods.

Similar schemes will also be available for businesses that were flooded.

The measures are in addition to the hardship grant from Bradford Council and ‘Give Bradford and Leeds Community Foundation’ announced recently.

The Council is in the process of contacting those affected by the flooding.

Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, said:

“I am relieved that the Government has finally listened to our representations for them to step up and provide support for those affected by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis. It’s been a terrible time for those residents and businesses affected.

“I appreciate that the impact and costs of the flooding are significant but hope that the package of support can go some way to help in alleviating the hardships caused.”

If flood water entered habitable areas of your home, and you have not been contacted by the Council you can contact them on 01274 431000.
