Woman rescued from Embsay Beck

A woman has been rescued from Embsay Beck by firefighters after she was swept away by fast-flowing water.

  • It happened yesterday afternoon 
  • The woman held onto a branch until crews pulled her from the water 
  • She was taken to hospital 
  • There are still some flood warnings and alerts in place this morning 

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to Embsay Beck at 2.43pm yesterday afternoon. 

A member of the public called 999 after seeing the woman in the fast-flowing water. 

Say she was swept away by the river and held onto a branch until fierfighters could reach her. 

 

The woman was given first aid at the scene and taken to hospital. 

There are a number of flood warnings and alerts still in place this morning following yesterday's rain and snow.
