A new charity shop in Knaresborough is in need of extra volunteers. They say it'll help them raise money that will help save lives.

It's as the Yorkshire Cancer Research shop has extended its opening hours from one day a week to five.

The shop occupies the former premises of BEK’s Electrical on Market Place, and was the first to be opened by the charity in more than 30 years.

Rebecca Clark, Interim Shop Manager, said:

"I’m looking forward to working with both the local community and volunteers whilst managing the shop.

"Yorkshire Cancer Research does some great work for the people of Yorkshire and it’s a great honour to help them raise money to help even more people, especially those in the local area."

Former Practice Manager, Susan Massey decided to volunteer after seeing adverts seeking new volunteers for the shop.

The 73-year-old said:

"My partner has had a lot of treatment in Leeds which is why I decided to volunteer.

"I’ve been here a few weeks and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time.

"Everyone is very friendly, from the other volunteers to the management, and it’s also very rewarding to help raise money for such a great cause."
