New library books to help children with mental health

North Yorkshire libraries are offering a new collection of books to support children with their mental health.

  • A new collection of books are on offer at North Yorkshire libraries to support children with mental health. 
  • The full collection is available in 16 libraries, with the others having a selection.
  • The scheme is funded by Arts Council England. 

The Reading Well for Children scheme is funded by Arts Council England. 

The full collection is available in 16 libraries, with the others having a selection.

Books have been chosen with the aim of providing advice and support for coping with feelings, worries and daily life. 

Health professionals will be able to recommend titles on the list to families.

The books will be on offer at libraries across North Yorkshire

County Councillor Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said:

“North Yorkshire libraries have embraced the Reading Well books on prescription scheme for some years, already focusing on mental health, dementia and issues facing young people. 

“This latest collection adds another strand to the support that people can find at their library, again showcasing their important role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.”
