Meet the Skipton man on a mission to lose 10 stone

Published by Lisa Darvill at 6:51am 5th March 2020.

Two Skipton men are on a mission to inspire others to lose weight and improve their mental health.

  • 27 stone Sam Morgan has teamed up with personal trainer Kyle Mangan
  • He wants to lose 10 stone
  • The pair are documenting the journey to inspire others
  • They also want to help people improve their mental health

Sam Morgan weighed over 27 stone when he was approached by personal trainer Kyle Mangan.

Sam is now on a mission to lose 10 stone, with the pair documenting the journey on social media.

Sam said:

"I needed some reassurance to go and do it.

"I don't think I could do it by myself because I've not got the confidence to go and push myself.

"In the past, I've been pretty nervous about going to the gym, thinking people might be looking at me.

"You think people are looking at you even though they're probably not."

But with the help of Kyle, he's lost 2 stone in 6 weeks.

He's even planning on tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks in the summer to help him reach his weight loss goal and raise money for charity at the same time.

Asked why they were so keen to document Sam's journey, Kyle said:

"I think it's very important we document it so we can show other people who may be in Sam's position that they can do it and all they need is some drive and motivation.

"And hopefully some inspiration from seeing Sam try so hard."

The pair, who've both struggled with their mental health, also hope the documentary series will help promote mental wellbeing.

Kyle added:

"It's not just about losing weight, it's the mental health side.

"At one point in my life, I was feeling so low. I think you need to have set goals to try and accomplish so you can look forward in life.

"That's how I think you get out of depression

"It goes out to anyone who feels down at the moment or feels like there isn't a way out. There is a way out, you just need to try and stay positive. Get a set of goals together and you will get through it, I promise."
