New scheme launched to promote Harrogate

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 2:54pm 3rd March 2020.

A new scheme aiming to put the Harrogate district on a global stage has been launched.

  • The 'Harrogate Story' aims to celebrate and promote what's great about the area.
  • It's hoped it will attract investors, workers and visitors to the area.
  • It's hoped it will strengthen the economy of the area and "ensure it remains fit for the future."

A new project aiming to promote the Harrogate District to the world has been launched.

The Harrogate Story is designed to strengthen the economy in the district by providing a clear and consistent message to businesses, investors, private sector developers, visitors, workers and residents.

The scheme recognises that Harrogate is a fantastic part of the country but it needs to make more of its assets.

A new steering group of passionate individuals from across the district has been set up to help provide leadership of the scheme.

Mark Roberts is the chair of the group. He told Stray FM:

"I think everyone who has a vested interest in Harrogate should have a vested interest in the story.

"By acting together we have the opportunity to elevate Harrogate...

"We're hoping to really put Harrogate on the map to attract more inward investment, more businesses, more tourists into the region.

Sharon Canavar, chief executive of Harrogate International Festivals and vice chair of the leadership group, said:

“So many of business people here have connections within and outside the Harrogate district. We can all do our bit to spread the word and this project gives us all the tools to do this in a powerful and consistent way.

“We want everyone to utilise these networks, share their passion for our place and encourage more people to Think Harrogate.”

Business leaders are also being encouraged to get involved in a new ambassador group, encouraging those outside the district to think of Harrogate as the place do invest and do business.

Anyone interested in doing so is asked to get in touch: hello@thinkharrogate.co.uk.
