New start location for Knaresborough Young Farmers tractor run 2020

  • Knaresborough Tractor Run gets underway this weekend.
  • Over 300 tractors are expected to take part (Sunday, 8 March).
  • It's in memory of Mike Spink who died in an accident in New Zealand.
  • The event raises money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Due to its popularity, the annual Knaresborough Young Farmers tractor run will be starting from a different location this year.

The event has outgrown its original venue on York Place in Knaresborough so it has been moved to the Great Yorkshire Showground instead.

Over 300 tractors will be taking part in the run from Harrogate to Knaresborough to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in memory of a young farmer who died in New Zealand.

The Knaresborough Young Farmers tractor run is in memory of 24-year-old Michael Spink, who died in an accident whilst working in New Zealand.

In January 2017, he was hit by a car as he was walking home shortly after midnight.

Mr Spink grew up on the family’s dairy farm in Scotton, near Knaresborough, before travelling to find farm work overseas.

Over 300 tractors are due to take part

Stray FM's presenters Pete Egerton and Will Smith will be taking part, thanks to Ripon farm services, who loaned the pair a tractor.

Pete and Will are placed in the top ten of 300 tractors - so keep your eyes peeled!
