A North Yorkshire MP self-isolates over coronavirus concerns

  • North Yorkshire MP, Rachael Maskell, has revealed she's self-isolating following a meeting with a health minister, who's tested positive for Covid-19.
  • Nadine Dorries is recovering at home after she started to feel unwell last Thursday.
  • That's the same day she was at a Downing Street reception hosted by Boris Johnson.

Rachael Maskell, the MP for York Central, has gone into self-isolation to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Ms Maskaell made the decision following confirmation that the health minister Nadine Dorress has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

Ms Maskell is not showing any symptoms - but she held a meeting with the minister last Thursday - and has decided to self-isolate as a precaution.

Speaking to Stray Fm's sister station Minster FM, Rachael Maskell added:

“It is essential that we all follow the public health advice provided, even if we are feeling well.

We must do all we can to contain and delay the onset of Coronavirus.

The public health advice to everyone is to wash your hands, catch your coughs and sneezes and then bin it, and to minimalise contact, including touching your face.

If everyone follows this hygiene and isolation advice then we may be able to delay the spread of the virus.

If anyone shows symptoms, they must follow the Public Health England advice and ring NHS111”
