Pedestrian dies after collision with lorry near Aysgarth Falls

A pedestrian has died after a collision with a lorry at Aysgarth, near Leyburn.

  • A man in his 70s died after being hit by a lorry at Aysgarth.
  • It happened yesterday afternoon on  Church Bank
  • The driver of the lorry was arrested and has been released under investigation.   

It happened on Church Bank around 12.30pm yesterday.  

The collision involved a heavy goods vehicle and a man aged in his 70s.

The man suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the HGV, a 28 year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.  He has been  released under investigation while enquiries continue.
