Harrogate Grammar is to partially close today (Tuesday, 17 March)

  • A decision to partially close Harrogate Grammar has been made.
  • It applies to Years 8, 9 and 12 ONLY.
  • It's in force today (Tuesday, 17 March).
  • The school has stated it's due to staffing issues.

Education bosses at Harrogate Grammar have announced a partial closure for students today (Tuesday, 17 March).

It ONLY applies to Years 8, 9 and 12.

Parents were sent letters last night outlining the changes.

In it, it stated:

"The recent measures that have been put in place this evening by the Government mean that, despite guidance to not close schools, we are not able to staff the full timetable. We have, therefore, made the decision to close the school tomorrow (Tuesday, 17 March) for Years 8, 9 and 12.

We will deliver the timetable as normal, with necessary cover, to Years 7, 10, 11 and 13."

It added:

"We will review this decision tomorrow (Tuesday, 17 March) and make further announcements as the situation develops."

From headteacher Neil Renton, the letter also outlined the cancellations of the following events:

  • Oliver Twist on Thursday, 19 March
  • Stay Awake on Friday, 20 March
  • Duke of Edinburgh, Bronze Practice, Sat 21 - 22 March
