Shell shocked

Shell shocked

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 3:56pm 17th March 2020.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has told Stray FM that the club is shell shocked at the speed of which coronavirus has affected football and all walks of life.

  • Town's match at Solihull Moors on Friday was postponed due to 4 members of the club going into self-isolation.
  • The National League has decided that its competition is now suspended until at least 3rd April 2020.
  • Harrogate's semi-final in the FA Trophy with Notts County this Saturday (21st March) is also postponed

Simon Weaver has been telling Stray FM's Pete Egerton that he and all involved with Harrogate Town have been a little shell shocked at how quickly things have escalated since the club's match at Solihull last Friday was called off.

Town were due to make the trip to the West Midlands on Friday night (13th March) but had to request permission from the National League to postpone the game due to 4 of their people, two coaching staff and two players, going into isolation as a precautionary measure following the government's guidelines with the ongoing coronavirus situation.

Since then, the National League have issued an official statement and subsequently, all games within the league, along with the FA Trophy too, have been suspended until 3rd April at the earliest.

Town Tweets

There has been some positive news for the Town faithful though as the gaffer has added to the squad's fire power with the addition of Guiseley striker Aaron Martin. Simon describes him as a "big strong, all action type forward" who will be chomping at the bit to help his team mates to success as and when the season continues.
