Prime Minister urges us to 'stay away' from our Mums this Mother's Day

Boris Johnson's issued a Mother's Day warning - telling people NOT to visit their mums.

In a stark message, the Prime Minister warns the coronavirus outbreak is accelerating, and the NHS is struggling to cope.

He says unless we act together, our health service could be overwhelmed in a similar way to how the Italian health service has.

Harlow Carr Gardens to stay closed until further notice

The RHS announced earlier this morning that Harlow Carr, along with their three other gardens around the country, would be closed today.

But they've now issued an update, saying the closure will now remain in place until further notice.

They say yesterday was a 'very busy day' at their gardens, and they feel they can no longer guarantee the government's requirements for social distancing.

Yorkshire Dales business owner urges people to stay away from Malhamdale

The owner of a local business based in the Yorkshire Dales has contacted Stray FM raising concerns about increased visitors to Malhamdale.

They've told us..

"Please can you ask people to stay away from Malhamdale.

Yesterday we saw record numbers of visitors with the village over-run.

Pubs & cafes were selling take-aways which resulted in large numbers of families having picnics in the village."

Harrogate Hospital needs you...

A plea has been issued for more volunteers to come forward to help out at Harrogate Hospital duiring the coronavirus virus.

The trust say some of their existing volunteers have had to temporarily stand down, and they need others to take their place.

A variety of roles in various areas and departments are available, with roles tailored to each individual's skills.

Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks shut their gates

The National Trust have announced that all of their parks and gardens across the country will be closed from today, as they don't feel able to control crowds in a way which maintains social distancing.

The closure includes Brimham Rocks, as well as Fountains Abbey which reported being 'very busy' yesterday...

Harrogate's Harlow Carr Gardens closed

The RHS have announced this morning that four of their gardens, including Harlow Carr in Harrogate will be closed today.

They've apologised for any disappointment caused and in a statment they say,

"We believe the volumes likely to visit our Gardens would be unmanageable today for social distancing."

At the moment the closure is only in place for today, but they've promised to issue an update later regarding future opening.
