Coronavirus: St Michael's hospice closes Harrogate shops

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 4:04pm 23rd March 2020.

St Michael's hospice has temporarily closed its 11 shops across the Harrogate District.

  • St Michael's has temporarily closed its charity shops across the Harrogate district.
  • It's because of concerns about coronavirus.
  • The charity is also stopping donations and collection services.

The charity supports people who are living with terminal illness.

It also says it can no longer accept donations of goods and has stopped its collection service.

In a statement, St Michael's said:

"With both regret and responsibility, we have taken the decision to temporarily close all of our charity shops with immediate effect, and until further notice. This means that each shop will close from today. It will also mean that unfortunately we will no longer be able to accept donations of goods at this time. Our home collection service will also cease.

We believe that this is the right thing to do to support the wellbeing of our customers, volunteers and staff, and aid our community’s COVID-19 response efforts.

We would like to thank our customers and donors for their understanding at this time and our volunteers and staff for their hard work during this challenging period.

Please look out for information about the re-opening of our retail operations in shop windows and across the media.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our shops when it is safe for us to open our doors again."
