Coronavirus: Our stay-at-home challenges

Coronavirus: Our stay-at-home challenges

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 6:45am 31st March 2020.

Now we're all staying at home for a lot longer, it's the perfect opportunity to try something new. Here are our challenges for you.

  • Everyone's got a bit more spare time now that we're staying at home following new Government rules.
  • Alongside working from home, it's a good idea to try and complete challenges, to give you focus and distract you from the world outside.
  • Let us know how you do! Tweet us @StrayFM or find us on Facebook!

After the Government brought in new rules to protect the NHS during the coronavirus outbreak, we're all spending a lot more time at home.

That means we've got a lot more time on our hands - and it would be a good idea to set yourself some goals, to distract yourself from the outside world.

We've put together some ideas for challenges you could take on - let us know how you do on social media!

Learn a new language

Now is a better opportunity than ever to learn a new language.

There are lots of ways to do it. Duolingo is a free app you can download to your phone - it sets lots of small step-by-step achievable challenges.

Alternatively, Rosetta Stone offers a three day free trial on its online courses - so if you want to go for something more intensive, see how fluent you can become in a really short time period.

If you've always wanted to learn British Sign Language, this online course - which normally costs £25 - has been reduced to a pay-as-you-feel system, with donations starting at £3.

Back to school

If you're teaching the kids at home, why not join in?

Maybe see if you can still do a GCSE exam paper if you're really bored - or just see how much maths has changed in the 'couple of years' since you were at school.

If you're struggling, don't forget there are loads of resources online, like this maths help from Carol Vorderman:

Get creative in the kitchen

Check out what you've got in the cupboards and see what you can make out of it!

Whether it's a huge cake, a home-baked loaf of bread, or just a massive stew with everything you've found in the cupboard - get experimenting!

If you're struggling for inspiration, get in touch with Harrogate-based chef, Darren...

Do that bit of DIY you've been putting off for aaaages...

We've all got that hook that needs putting up, or that door hinge that needs some oil to stop it squeaking so much.

This is a great opportunity to tick off everything on that never-ending to-do list.

Need some tips? Check out this handy video...

And finally...learn what TikTok is.

A slightly left-field way to end, but this really could take some time.

We don't really know the answer to this. If you can help us out, please do get in touch on social media.

If you've got any teenagers in the house, they probably know the answer.

Apparently this sort of thing is quite common...
