Season at an end for various teams at Harrogate Town AFC

The football season is at an end for Harrogate Town Ladies, Under 23's, Under 21's, Under 19's and Under 17's following the Covid-19 outbreak.

The decision from the Football Association is that the seasons will all be null and void, with results from the season expunged.

The news will come as a major disappointment, particularly for Harrogate Town Ladies who were top of their league and with a County Cup Semi-Final on the horizon.

Keighley Bus Service: new running times

Keighley Bus Services will be running new temporary times from Sunday 29th March.

Although most of the same services will be running, they will be less frequent and may cause disruptions to some usual journeys.

Important waste information from Harrogate Borough Council

Harrogate Borough Council have released the following information to ensure waste/recycling collections continue as normal during the current situation.

Be sure to double-bag your waste if you have symptoms of the Coronavirus, follow the recommended hygiene procedure with regards to wiping down bins, and park responsibly to allow trucks to access properties.

Discounted food at Cardamom Black in Harrogate!

Harrogate Restaurant Cardamom Black are offering discounted takeaways as they plan to stay open throughout the Covid-19 outbreak.

Customers can quote a code to receive 15% off their meals and drinks, with NHS workers also receiving 50% off their order.

The restaurant have been in Harrogate for almost 9 years and are counting on the support of their diners throughout the current situation.

A feel-good story from Willow Tree Primary - Happy Birthday Pauline!

Year 5 and 6 students at Willow Tree Primary School managed to beat self-isolation guidelines to ensure an elderly lady didn't spend her 73rd birthday alone, despite being in lockdown.

The students, who are at school due to being children of key workers, gathered to sing Happy Birthday to Pauline Leworthy through the gates at the back of the school's field in a touching moment.

The RSPCA York, Harrogate & District Branch is pleading for donations, having seen a dramatic drop in income since the Covid-19 outbreak.

After being forced to cancel all of their Spring events, York Animal Home is asking for support to keep them going through the current situation.

North Yorkshire County Council offer self-isolation advice

Marie-Ann Jackson, Head of Stronger Communities at NYCC, has some advice for those self-isolating at this time.

If you don't have any neighbours or anyone else to lean on, you can contact the council, who will provide more information on support available.

Perspex screens to be installed at Booths in Ripon and Ilkley

Booths are introducing perspex screens to their supermarkets across Yorkshire, including Ripon and Ilkley in the Stray FM area, to further adhere to government guidelines around social distancing.

Along with the screens to ensure people remain 2 metres apart, the supermarket are also placing markers on the floor and will be limiting the number of customers entering the store.

ICYMI: Stray FM Secret Sound money to be donated to charity

It's finally over!

After 1239 wrong guesses in 12 months and over £4,500 in prize money accrued, we have suspended the Secret Sound and made the decision to donate the money to needing charities.

Harrogate Food Bank and Skipton Food Bank will each receive a share of the prize money, which will go a long way towards supporting these charities in such difficult times.

Another change of opening hours

Pharmall Country Store has contacted us to let its shoppers know that there are some changes to its availability.

It's told us they've now closed the shop to passing trade.

But you can still get anything you want but the orders must be made over the phone

They can then be collected from the store.

Local brewery supports NHS

Ilkley Brewery is stepping up to help support NHS workers.

It's encouraging those who shop with them to buy a £1 NHS token which will go into a fund for healthcare workers.

The cash will then be spent treats for frontline staff - from meals to nights away.

Hand creams needed at Harrogate Hospital

A plea is going out to all beauty salons or spa hotels across the Harrogate district to donate hand cream or moisturisers that they might have to Harrogate District Hospital.

With all the regular washing with anti-bacterial gel, doctors and nurses' hands are suffering.

Jess Oakley - who is part of the Covid Co-operation Harrogate Group on Facebook who's behind the campaign - has told Stray FM, hand creams and moisturisers are desperately needed.

She would like to hear from beauty salons, hotels or spas who could donate.
