A rescue centre for exotic animals in Knaresborough is making an appeal for help.

  • K'rescue on the High Street is struggling with an influx of animals.
  • Owners who cannot afford to care for animals are handing them in.
  • The centre relies on donations and is not getting any help from government.

K'rescue says it's having to deal with an  influx of animals from owners who cannot afford to keep their pets.

The centre is reliant on donations, mainly from visitors to the site, which is based on  the High Street.

Founder of K'rescue, Dan Holmes, said:

"We are experiencing an influx of animals from owners who cannot afford to keep their pets, literally turning up and handing them over and animals left abandoned.

"We are operating purely on public donations, mainly through visiting the centre on the High Street in Knaresborough. This footfall has stopped abruptly due to the coronavirus. Fundraising efforts are also postponed.

"We need funds to keep these animals alive, some of them with medical conditions due to their rescue situations.
Our paypal account is krescue@hotmail.co.uk."
