Temporary hospital set up at Harrogate Convention Centre

  • There are reports, Harrogate Convention Centre is to be turned into a temporary hospital to help deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

  • The armed forces have already established the NHS Nightingale hospital in London's Excel.

It's believed, Harrogate Convention Centre is to be turned into a temporary hospital to help treat coronavirus patients.

Reports suggest the venue will become a fifth temporary hospital to help serve patients in Yorkshire.

According to newspaper reports, the Convention Centre will have 4,000 beds and is due to receive its first patients later this week.

Stray FM has contacted Public Health England for confirmation.

The armed forces have already established the NHS Nightingale hospital in the Excel conference centre in London’s Docklands and helped identify other venues in Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

The Ministry of Defence has supplied military engineers and logistics experts to help build the Nightingale Hospital and will be working on other temporary sites across the country.
