In a statement, Horticap said:

"As is sadly inevitable, our nursery, shop and tea room are closed until further notice which will result in a significant loss of income as will the cancellation of the Spring Flower Show and Great Yorkshire Show both of which were important fundraising events for Horticap. Also, our new building project which had been going so well has had to be suspended. That will of course result in a delay in completion which is very unfortunate.

"This situation has had a huge impact on the way we work but our overriding aim must be to ensure the Horticap is in the best possible position to continue to help our students when the crisis subsides.

"Everyone at Horticap is immensely grateful for the many messages of support received over recent days and we will continue to keep you updated as best we can.

"In the meantime, many of you have asked how you can continue to support us through these difficult times and the simplest way to do this, but only if you are able, is by making a donation."
