Coronavirus: Deaths at Airedale General exceed 30

More deaths reported in Airedale and Harrogate

  • Six more people who contracted coronavirus have died at Airedale General.
  • It takes the number of people to pass away at the hospital trust to 33.
  • Another death has been confirmed at Harrogate District Hospital.
  • The national figure has now reached 9,875.

Five new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust in the past 24 hours, the latest official figures show.

NHS England figures show 33 people had died in hospital at Airedale General Hospital as of 5pm on Saturday (11 April).

One death happened on Friday (10 April) but was only confirmed by health bosses today.

In addition, there has been another death at Harrogate General Hospital, taking the total number of people who died from coronavirus to 22.

Isolation pods are still operating at hospitals

They were among over 1,000 deaths recorded across the North East and Yorkshire to date.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

Commenting on today's confirmed death toll figures, NHS England released this statement:

"A further 657 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 9,594.

Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old.  42 of the 657 patients (aged between 30 and 98 years old) had no known underlying health condition.  

Their families have been informed.
