Coronavirus: Captain Tom Moore raises over £21m for NHS

Former Army captain's fundraising fund continues to grow

  • Captain Tom Moore completed 100 laps of his garden to support the NHS during the week.

  • The former Army captain took on the challenge to mark his 100th birthday.

The 99-year-old war veteran has now raised over £21m for the NHS by walking around his garden has now completed his challenge.

Captain Tom Moore, who grew up in Keighley, smashed his original target to raise £1,000 by walking 100 lengths of his garden.

After reaching his target, completed with a guard of honour from the 1st Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment, he said he felt "fine", and that he was glad to be "surrounded by the right sort of people".

Donations to NHS Charities Together are continuing to pour in and can be made here for his fundraising campaign.

Captain Moore - who turns 100 at the end of the month - has received multiple messages of thanks from NHS workers, sports personalities and politicians.
